Painting and poem by From Stilettos to Moccasins team member, Jennifer Rabbitskin, 2010

My painting of Mama’s moccasins represents our traditional roots.
The smell of the wild smoked hide and texture of the soft hide of the moccasins itself takes you back to the traditional roots.
The Moon represents the healing womb for women, the dream catchers represents the catching of every women’s spiritual self.
The red and blue waves look like the Milky Way shaped as woman are the bloodlines of our Grandmother moon, The woman kneeling represents the prayers of our women, The strength that keeps us together.
Our moccasins are traditionally who we are our dignity and our identity.
